A teleprompter that follows your voice: how voice scrolling works on iPhone
A voice-scrolling teleprompter listens while you read and moves the script to match the words you are saying, instead of scrolling at a fixed speed. In Teleprompter this is the Follow my voice mode: the text advances as you speak, waits when you pause, keeps its place when you skip ahead or go back to retake a line, and works in dozens of languages. It is part of the free version.
Fixed speed vs. finish on time vs. voice
Each mode solves a different problem, and the app has all three.
| Mode | How it moves | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Fixed speed | A steady rate you set | Rehearsed reads, music beds, consistent delivery |
| Finish on time | Lands the last line exactly on a target length | Ads, 30- or 60-second shorts, timed segments |
| Follow my voice | Moves as you speak, waits when you pause | Talking-head videos, speeches, natural delivery |

What voice scrolling handles well
Pauses: the script waits instead of drifting away while you breathe or look up. Retakes: go back a sentence and it finds its place again. Skips: jump a paragraph and it follows. Because it never races ahead on its own, you can slow down for emphasis without fighting the prompter.
It works with recording, so you can film in up to 4K while it tracks you — see reading a script while recording.
When to switch it off
In a loud room, with music playing, or when someone else is speaking on the same take, a fixed speed or a finish time is more predictable. For a live presentation where you want manual control, use a clicker or pedal instead: remote and pedal control.
What this cannot do
- Voice scrolling needs to hear you clearly; background speech or loud music can confuse any speech-following prompter.
- The listing says it works in dozens of languages but does not publish the list.
- iPhone only, iOS 16 or later.
