How to count baby kicks in the third trimester on iPhone
Baby Kick Counter turns kick counting into one repeated action. Open the app, tap Start, then tap the heart ring each time you feel your baby move. The ring fills with hearts as the count grows, and a gentle timer shows how long the count has been running.
The default mode is Count to 10, the way the App Store description says many midwives and doctors suggest: you see how long it takes to feel 10 movements. If you would rather not aim for a number, Open tracking simply records movements as they come. A soft night mode makes counting in bed easier on the eyes.
The app also runs a two-hour safety window and alerts you if a count runs long. It does not interpret the result for you. What counts as normal for your baby is a question for your midwife or doctor.
- Count to 10, or Open tracking with no target
- A gentle timer for every count
- A two-hour safety window with an alert if a count runs long
- A soft night mode for counting in bed
Does a kick count include rolls, flutters and hiccups?
In this app it does. The description says to tap for every kick, roll, flutter or hiccup, and the counting screen has four buttons for exactly those: Kick, Roll, Flutter and Hiccups. Choose the one that matches what you felt, then tap the ring.
Every movement is stored with its time and type, so a finished session lists them in order: for example a Roll at 7:34 PM, a Flutter at 7:42 PM and a Kick at 7:48 PM. After the count you can mark how it felt (Gentle, Lively or Strong) and write a short line, such as what you had just eaten or drunk.
Those notes are for you and for the appointment. The app does not say what any movement type means for your baby's health.
Fetal movement tracker with a PDF report for your midwife or doctor
The app learns how long your baby usually takes to reach 10, so a count can be compared with the baby's own usual range instead of a number from the internet. It also shows your baby's most lively hours and a heart calendar of every day you counted.
When you have an appointment, the For your appointment screen summarizes the last 7, 14 or 30 days. The example in the screenshots shows 13 sessions, an average of 24 minutes to reach 10 and a usual range of 13 to 32 minutes. A Share PDF button sends the report to your midwife or doctor.
The PDF report is part of Kick Counter Pro. The last 7 days of history stay free, and Pro adds your full history.
Kick counter on the Lock Screen, Dynamic Island and widgets
You do not have to open the app to see where a count stands. A Live Activity and the Dynamic Island show your count while it runs, and Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets show your week at a glance. The widgets in the screenshots include a Say hi button, a kicks today tally and a seven-day row of hearts.
With Pro you can tap + Kick without unlocking your phone, counting right from the Lock Screen, the Dynamic Island and widgets. A daily reminder arrives at the time your baby is usually most active.
Live Activities and the Dynamic Island need a compatible iPhone. The App Store description does not list which models, so check your device before relying on them.
Kick counter for twins, with your baby's nickname and a first letter
The app is also a keepsake. You can call your baby by a nickname, and the home screen shows their size week by week, for example week 32 with eight weeks to go. In the screenshots the nickname is Peanut and the counts read as hellos.
If you are expecting twins, you can count Baby A and Baby B separately, so each baby has their own log. The app also lets you begin with a first letter to your baby, kept safe in the app, and the Moments screen keeps that letter above a calendar of every day you counted.
None of this changes how the counting works. It is there to make a daily habit feel warm instead of clinical.
